World Cup Rewind: Revisiting USA vs. Algeria in Pictures

by Miriti Murungi

USA vs Algeria

Allow me to take you back. Back to a place where temperatures were not that hot, nor that cold. To a day that made me termporarily lose my mind. To a venue where an Algerian guy stole my vuvuzela. World Cup-Inspired Art – Paul Goodnight

by Clive Longbottom-Fellow, Esq.

Network Painting

Renowned Boston artist Paul Goodnight has a distinguished history of creating works of art for international sporting events.  Goodnight created works for the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics and the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.  But Goodnight’s work extends beyond the Olympic realm.  He also created a poster for the 1998 World Cup in France.  Not a bad resume.  Add to this the 1997 U.S. Sports Academy Artist of the Year Award, works included in television and film features, and countless other impressive accomplishments and accolades, and you’ll soon come to the conclusion that Goodnight is just showing off.  I kid, Mr. Goodnight.

Once again, Goodnight is using his artistic skills to add dimension to a World Cup.  His work is included in the 2010 Fine Art Project, an official 2010 World Cup collaboration that brings together a range of artists from around the world to create works inspired by Africa’s first World Cup.
