by Clive Longbottom-Fellow, Esq.

Pablo Aurrecochea

Uruguayan goalkeeper Pablo Aurrecochea is a certifiable, bad mother shut-yo-mouth. Last night, Aurrecochea, who plays for Club Guarani of Paraguay, faced off against Argentina’s River Plate in the Copa Sudamericana in this fly Superman goalkeeper jersey. If that doesn’t intimidate the opposition, I don’t know what will. I mean, nothing gets by Superman, right? (more…)

FIFA 11 Takes it to the Streets

by Clive Longbottom-Fellow, Esq.

FIFA 11

Video games have become more and more realistic over the years. While I maintain that Frogger, Pac-Man, Techmo Bowl, Contra, Mike Tyson’s Punch Out, Street Fighter and NBA Jams are still much cooler than what’s now on the market, I also recognize that my position makes me seem more and more senile to kids these days. But I’ll always support imagination over better graphics. Always. But that’s just me. (more…)

Did Brazil’s World Cup Loss to the Netherlands Break Twitter?

by Miriti Murungi

Brazil vs Twitter

The final whistle blew. The mighty Brazil fell to a Dutch team that was less than easy on the eyes. Good thing Dunga’s a tough guy, for he is about to take an epic beating. But let’s go on to the aftermath.

Twitter was already buzzing. As I went to post my latest brilliant thought in 140 characters or less, Twitter told me that it was over capacity. It’s happened before. So I hit the refresh button. Then I’m told that the website that I was looking for — Twitter — might have moved its website. In 140 words or less, I believe that Brazil’s loss destroyed Twitter’s server. (more…)

Nike’s Netherlands Jacket – Supplementing Your World Cup Wardrobe

by Clive Longbottom-Fellow, Esq.

Netherlands Jacket

If you happen to root for another team outside of the U.S., the Netherlands wouldn’t be a bad choice.  They’ve got some decent players, and their color combinations are, well, better than most.  If you think about it, style has long been a part of Dutch football.  Cruyff,  total football, Gullit’s flowing locks, Edgar David’s goggles — all stylish and iconic images that we associate with Dutch football.
