Daily Banter – 2.23.2010

How many English Premier League players are going to get arrested this season for drunk driving?  South African Steven Pienaar was the latest player to get arrested for driving under the influence shortly after Everton beat Manchester United.  You’d think with as much money as these guys make, they would just get a driver. It’s time to start taking bets.  Who’s next?  My money is on David Bentley.  And yes, I know that’s Jermaine Pennant in the picture.

Clubs need to start imposing heavier fines for such reckless behavior. It would be good for the player’s safety, not to mention that it would help protect a club asset. These guys make to much money not to hire a driver. By the way, aren’t these guys supposed to refrain from drinking during the season? Something about being a world class athlete…

I particularly love Pennant’s John Travolta-like get up. Styling!
