I’ve felt like I’m in a nightmare where I’m watching Tucker Carlson and Paul Begala on Crossfire.  Yeah, they brought it back … in my dream.  A lot of talk, and not a lot being said.  But now we’re hearing a bit more from MLS owner-types about the league’s viability and disrespectful players.  There’s a difference between being disrespectful and, at least for some of the players, wanting a bit of financial security.  But not to some owners.  Apparently the hardball posturing has begun.  It’s becoming clearer that the players are negotiating with parties that are seemingly willing to lose a lot more money just to make a point.  Several of these owners can lose money without having a huge impact on personal lives.  In fact, they signed on as owners knowing that profits were far down the road.  Not all players have that luxury.  Several of them must be a few paychecks away from not being able to pay rent.  I have the feeling that this one will end at the 11th hour.  The owners have just turned up the pressure.
