The All India Football Federation (AIFF) recently announced that Indian clubs will be allowed to register four foreign players for the season. Seemingly, the idea is more Maradona’s than Villa’s, but I still would like to take the rumor seriously simply because it offers one of those once in a lifetime entertainment opportunities. New Japanese Football Association president Junji Ogura is looking to usher in some changes in Japanese soccer. One of Ogura’s targets is to shift the J-League calendar from a spring-autumn season to an autumn-spring season to align with the European calendar. Last night, Manchester United put a sound beating on the MLS All-Stars in front of a record crowd at Houston’s Reliant Stadium. The final score was 5-2 to the boys from Manchester. In June, Barcelona’s board of directors announced a 2009-2010 profit of 11 million euros. That’s not an overly impressive figure given the stature of the club. However, an audit led by new Barcelona president Sandro Rosell paints a more dire picture. This latest audit reveals a post-tax loss for 2009-2010 of 77.1 million euros.
